Project: Per-Plexied

This is my new project. Per-Plexied is a mod consisting of plexi glass and a steel frame. All components will be anchored the the top piece so it can be opened with one easy movement.

Here are my concept photos:

I am making this case from scratch out of plexi, aluminum bars and rivets

I riveted the L-shaped bars to each side of the plexi sheets

Then I riveted the sides to the bottom piece too

I used the same method on top, adding L-Shaped bars to the plexi panel

The top piece is not attached to the sides just yet

I wanted to buy a square bar next, but it was 4 times the price of a U-Shaped bar.

All I did was an adhesive to the U bars make two into one square bar

I only needed two

Then I got some sheet metal for the middle

And bolted them to the bars I made

It's going to go here

I attached it to the plexi with rivets and bolts

This is the center piece which everything on the inside will connect to. Whenever I need to make repairs, I will just unlatch the top and pull out all the guts with one movement.

I added a Motherboard tray and rails that I took from Hard Drive PC

And the DVD bay from the same place

On to the front and back panel

Bars were cut for the new edges

To go here

I used the remaining U bars

To cover the gap

On both sides, like this:

I cut the ends to the right size
12x12.3 inches

Then I roughly drew out the shapes I would have to cut.
I use a dremel for this

That's everything

And I started cutting. . . .

And that was easier than I thought it would be

I added a handle to make opening the case even easier

More on the way
