Ark of the Covenant PC

The Ark of the Covenant is a long disputed legend. It may have existed and it may have not. People have searched the globe far and wide for it so I'm bringing it to them.  The construction is laid out in the bible to the exact cubit, but could it really have been made of Gold?  I doubt it. These people were slaves on the run and did not have gold readily available to build an ark. But this Mod will be GOLD, because that's how it was in the movie. I present you my Indiana Jones tribute.

I started on the gold paint for the panels.

Remember this decorative sheet metal for later....

I'm using PVC pipe for the pillars that I added to the sketches, but there's going to be more, I just need more brainstorming to figure it all out.

So I painted everything Gold, as promised

And added this really interesting decorative sheet metal

I have PVC piping for the pillars with a quarter of it cut off.

Then I fitted it to the case. The actual bolting of it to the case will be tricky and I still have to figure out how I'm doing it

Here's after I painted the first pillar

I set the top on, but I don't have it connected yet. I may have to drill the holes through the wood as shown and drill holes through the top of the case too. That way the pillars won't have to bolted directly to the case and risk losing their smoothness.

So I decided that the Ten Commandments were an appropriate window shape, since that is what the Ark was built to hold.

So I cut out the shape and traced it on the panel

That was easy enough

Then I cut it out. I HATE cutting out rounded edges

Then covered it in Golden mesh

I still had to paint the other front panel beam.
The back two will come later

Here's some ideas as to what it'll look like when I add the top piece.

My angels arrived

Then I went trim shopping

And painted it to match

Then I bought fancy trim and a chair rail

And cut it to fit the top like a picture frame

Here's the direction I'm heading

Then I cut some pieces for the bottom

And painted these cool handles I got for about a buck each

And attached them to the bottom pieces
