Project: Dumb Terminal

This project is among one my most ambitious.  I have here an old Televideo 920C originally released around 1982.  As part of the project, I will keep the original design as much as possible, but the interior will receive a significant upgrade.

ECS Motherboard W/onboard sound & video
Athlon 64 X2 3800+
250GB Maxtor HD
1GB Corsair DDR2-800
480 Watt MATX PSU
External DVD/CD Writer
*
Dual Boot: XP Pro & Linspire 5.0

Here's the Empty shell.

I added an aluminum motherboard tray.

Where there was once keys, there will be USB/Firewire and the power button.

Here's the USB ports.  It's been cut for this use.

As you can see I added the ports.

Then I wired up the Power switch.

An added it to the panel.  It turned out cleaner than I had expected.

Now to focus on the keyboard.

After I mounted it on, I used zip ties to hold it in place so I could add rivets.

And here it is completed.

Next came the PSU and Standoffs.  I used an old motherboard as the guide since the hole layout was identical.

Here's the PSU looking through the screen

And the PSU from behind.  I also fed the keyboard wire out the back (right).

I found an old Hard drive cage and cut it to hold my new Hard drive

The SATA drive was mounted to the side of the case to avoid the clutter of other locations.  This is the best place to have the HD because of minimal space everywhere else.

I got the LCD in the mail recently and have finally gotten the time to add it to the Mod. Here's where I removed the shell

An this is what it looks like without the casing.

The only modding I had to do here was make notches to fit it in the case.

And you can see that it does....

Here's it in place. It takes up very little room.

I added the motherboard and then with everything completed (I think)....

I closed it.

This seems too easy.
So I ask myself, what will go wrong?

As I said above.  Something did go wrong.  My In Laws SuperBee PC died, so the Mobo, Proc with heatsink, and memory from Dumb Terminal are now in the SuperBee.

So for now and the near future, this project is in limbo.
