DODGE SUPER.BEE MOD

Now that CLOWNED is complete, I'm doing another case for my extended family.  To be exact, it's for my In Laws.  They have done so much for my wife, my children and me in the 12 years that I've known them.  But what have I done for them?  I haven't done much, maybe because I'm essentially just not good at anything, but I can build PC's.

Man that's old!

They have an aging 700MHz whitebox PC and are in dying need for an upgrade!

Here's the car I'm modeling it after.

So how did I choose the theme?  My father in law worked for Dodge for a long time and is a HUGE fan of late 60's early 70's models.  I don't know anything about car makes or models, so I used the web.  I found a sweet 1971 Dodge Super Bee that I chose to model the case after.  I'll be using the color, stripes and decals from the car as part of the PC case.

And here's the case.  Kind of a Pre-Mod, but it still has so much potential.

I start with the painting of the stripes.  The left panel is first.

Then slap on the flat black paint.

And there it is....

Next I do battle with the right panel.  I mark off a vent that I am going to replace with a small window.

And I draw my line where the stripe will go, making sure it's identical to the one on the left.

Once I was ready I taped it off.

And gave it a couple coats of flat black.

Then I quickly cut out the small window and put the panel back on.

I removed the front drive covers and glass.

Then I painted two of the 5.25 covers.  The other 5.25 bays will be occupied and the dual 3.5 inch bays will get an LCD addition!

The front panel got taped off leaving only the front vents exposed.

And I made it flat black too.

Once it dried I pulled off the tape and put the drive bay covers back on.
It looks awesome!

The DVD drive arrived and went in the top bay.

I also got the Super Bee hood logo; it's 6 inches in diameter.

After some careful nerve racking cutting I got all the yellow off and stuck it on.  I decided to keep a thin band of yellow in place because (1) it would be hard to remove cleanly and (2) it really makes the bee stand out.

I got the emblem in the mail and added it to the right side

Next to add the pin striping.
This is the same pin striping I used for R2-D2

For the window I wanted a special fan grill, one that couldn't be bought.  Since this is a Mopar car I made a Mopar logo grill.

I knew that modders mesh would too flimsy, so I cut some from this old case.

And added it to the fan

I then cut away the excess.

And I slapped the Mopar "M" to complete it
