Paradise Lost

Here's the direction.
Paradise Lost is actually a book written by John Milton in 1667.

The book is actually a really long poem about Adam and Eve, God and Satan and the war in Revelations.  Of which I have a mint copy published around 1880.

So this case will be Demonic.  It's a tribute in a sense of what I didn't finish when I was working on El Diablo.  This case will be gory.  I want it to look like a person who has been skinned.  Like bloody flesh.  In the process of this worklog I'll be using new methods than I have previously utilized and I'll show you how to do this too.

The specs are:

No components.  Just the case.

Here is the victim case.  Originally it was a working P2 system that was given to me by my wife's aunt who had no use for it.

Here are my modding toys.
Can you tell where I'm going with this?

Now that the case has been stripped, it must be primed.
Three coats with sanding between each.

The black is a base coat primarily for darkening the case.  Most of this won't be seen by the eye, so I won't spen a LOT of time making it pretty.

The bezel was painted black too

And the slot loading CD drive

I wired in the power, reset and 2 LED's that will stay on when ever the PC is on.

I cut the intake blow hole

Painted the Power and Reset buttons Cherry Red

There will be a pentagram fan grill at the blow hole.

Next up was the bezel focus point, a skull.
First on with the primer.  Three coats.

Then with shiney black gloss  This had to be done right.

Four coats

Here's where I wired one LED for each of the skull's eyes.  Unfortunately, the nose isn't accessable from the back.

Then I drilled holes into the drive bay covers and mounted the skull.

Here's my secret weapon:  Expanding Foam

I used it with R2-D2 to strengthen his legs.  When I was using it I realized how it looked like animal fat or guts minus the blood.

What a little red paint will do:

For the right panel I needed a saw blade.  This is REAL.

And I cut some mounting notches.

And mounted it to the case.

Here's a fake chain.

And some body parts

I sprayed on the foam.  As you can see I left room for the blade.

After about 15 minutes the top of it is dry enough to paint and under that layer of "skin" it's still liquid.

And I painted it red and added the "parts"

Next up is the Handle.

I wanted to use a bone.  This Femur is made of solid acrylic.

Here's the support screws

I drilled holes in the bone and slid it on top

Then I added the foam.  I made sure that some of the foam touched the ends of the bone.  It helps it appear to be attached to the muscle

The bone had to be taped off for the painting

First you need to darken the flesh.  It's necessary because after the Red is applied, the black parts will still be visible in the deeper ares.  The black paint acts as depth and provides natural looking shadowing

And then paint on the red.  I usually only wait a few minutes after the black goes on.

Lastly, the tape come off and the handle is done.  I let it all dry for 24 hours before testing the handle.

Next, I worked on the side panel and window.  After I made my cuts I sprayed on the foam.

Then I painted the foam and added the orange LED intake fan with Devil fan grill

After it dried I painted the bone handle to match.

I measured the panel window to fit

And here it is with the system added

And here it is completed.  I have no real use for the system, so it will sit in my basement till I need it or sell it.
